Straps hurt her ankles

Perfect
My 3 year old has been asking for flip flops like her older brother. The color is exactly how pictures. She has wore a size 7C shoes for while now and the 7/8 size fit her perfect.

Cute, but not comfortable
These flip flops are very cute, but my 2 YO finds them very uncomfortable. She cries as soon as I put them on her and says the thong piece between her toes hurts her feet, It may just be that she is not used to having something between her toes, but sadly we won't be able to use the 2 pairs I ordered.

What size is a medium?? Toddler shoe sizing is confusing enough, please use numbers.
