Good quality just fits awkward. Fits legs great other than it's just way to long and tight around the belly. Went a size up and they fit like they were 2 sizes to big.

No, size 7 has a regular waistband. If you need an elastic waistband and a size 7 jean, you might want to give the jeggings a try. My daughter wears an 8 and loves the elastic waistband on her jeggings and they look just like her other skinny jeans

Ok, so "P" is petite... are they shorter? slimmer? both? I assume yes on shorter... but not sure about how slim they are. just trying to figure out what size to order for my very petite (short & small waisted) 5 year old (usually even skinny jeans are too big... or fit the waist but are too short).
Petite means a skinnier waist. You might want to stick with the super skinny fit jeans or jeggings. When my daughter was younger we had similar issues because she needed a smaller waist but had average length legs so it was hard to find the right fit. I ALWAYS purchased a “slim” fit for her. I’m not sure if Carters offers slim fit. Just thought I’d share
