They have a metal snap and zipper to close, along with a stretchy material around the waistband. I like the stretchy waistband because my 7 yo is still struggling with buttons and snaps. I’m not a big fan of the fake tie strings in front. They just create bulk under the shirt and don’t have a real function. Would recommend!
